Black Hawks hosting Iowa Classic in September

Posted: Updated:

The Waterloo Black Hawks announced today they will host a five-team tournament with all of their in-state rivals at Young Arena in September.

The 2015 Iowa Classic, which will be held September 17, 18 and 19, will include the Sioux City Musketeers, Des Moines Buccaneers, Dubuque Fighting Saints and Cedar Rapids Roughriders.

Each team will get to play two games just before they finalize their 2015-16 regular season rosters.

“There is always a great deal of intensity at this time of year.  Everyone has something to play for, and with Waterloo’s best rivals all in town together, this should be a great event for hockey fans from across Iowa,” Black Hawks Head Coach P.K. O’Handley said in a written statement.

Along with fans, college and NHL scouts and coaches are expected to be in attendance at all the games.

Single-day passes are available for $7, or you can buy an all-session pass that gives you admission to all five games for $15. All seating will be general admission. Waterloo Black Hawks season ticket holders receive tickets for all three days of the tournament as part of their ticket package. For more details, call 319-291-7680.
