WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Eight dogs taken from a shelter in Alabama have been brought to the Cedar Bend Humane Society for adoption.

The Cedar Bend Humane Society says more than 300 animals were taken from the shelter in Moulton, Alabama on June 30. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the organization involved with the removal of the animals, says the shelter's director, Bobbie Taylor, faces 17 counts of animal cruelty.

The CBHS says the eight dogs brought to Waterloo will have to have medical treatment and behavioral testing before they can be adopted. All the dogs also need to be spayed or neutered.

The rest of the animals were sent to 11 shelters in nine other states.
