DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

The Foundation for Dubuque Public Schools is auctioning off a football signed by 12 Heisman trophy winners to help raise money for schools in Dubuque.

The online auction opens at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28 and closes at midnight on Friday, Sept. 18.

Dubuque native Jay Berwanger, a Heisman trophy winner in 1935 with Chicago, is one of the 12 winners to have his name appear on the ball.  A member of Berwanger's family donated the ball during a dedication ceremony in 2013.

Along with Berwanger, John Lattner, John David Crow, Joe Bellino, Steve Owens, Johnny Rodgers, John Capelletti, Billy Sims, George Rogers, Mike Rozier, Gino Torretta and Eric Crouch's autographs can be found on the football.
