Iowa State Fair starts today, drawing in presidential hopefuls

The gates open this morning for the first full day of the Iowa State Fair.

Along with food-on-a-stick staples, carnival rides and animal shows, the fair also sports a political flare.

With the caucuses just months away, plenty of presidential hopefuls plan to hit up The Des Moines Register's Soapbox.

Here's the schedule:

Thursday, August 13:

10 a.m.: George Washington, portrayed by Ron Carnegie

10:30 a.m.: Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas Governor, Republican

1 p.m.: Jim Webb, former U.S. Senator from Virginia, Democrat

4 p.m.: Martin O'Malley, former Maryland Governor, Democrat

Friday, August 14:

9:30 a.m.: Jeb Bush, former Florida Governor, Republican

Saturday, August 15:

11 a.m.: Rick Santorum, former U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania, Republican

11:30 a.m.: Lincoln Chafee, former Rhode Island Governor, Democrat

2 p.m.: Bernie Sanders, U.S. Senator from Vermont, independent running as  Democrat for president

Sunday, August 16:

4 p.m.: Ben Carson, retired neurosurgeon, Republican

4:30: George Pataki, former New York Governor, Republican

Monday, August 17: 

10 a.m.: Scott Walker, Wisconsin Governor, Republican

Noon: Carly Fiorina, former Hewlett-Packard CEO, Republican

3 p.m.: Lindsey graham, U.S. Senator from South Carolina, Republican

Tuesday, August 18:

10:30 a.m.: Marco Rubio, U.S. Senator from Florida, Republican

4 p.m.: John Kasich, Ohio Governor, Republican

Wednesday, August 19: 

10 a.m.: Rick Perry, former Texas Governor, Republican

Friday, August 21:

1:30 p.m.: Ted Cruz, U.S. Senator from Texas, Republican

Saturday, August 22:

10 a.m.: Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Democratic National Committee chair

11: a.m.: Chris Christie, New Jersey Governor, Republican

Noon: Bobby Jindal, Louisiana Governor, Republican

2 p.m.: Mark Everson,  former Internal Revenue Service commissioner, Republican
