KWWL learned Monday it took 140 firefighters from 14 different fire departments to battle the blaze Sunday.

Water was being brought into Mt. Vernon from Lisbon to help fight the fire.

Crews say the State Fire Marshal's Office will be investigating the cause of the fire at the bowling alley, as it's still unknown at this time.

As of early Monday morning, fire crews remained on scene.

UPDATE 4:15 a.m.: According to the Mount Vernon Police Department, one vehicle from the Mount Vernon Fire Department remains on the scene.

They're waiting to learn if the State Fire Marshall's Office will be sending someone.

Officers tell us some of the apartment units behind the bowling alley were evacuated last night but those people are back in their homes this morning.

According to the police department, the roof of the bowling alley is gone.
