The latest news and information on the University of Iowa Hawkeyes sports teams, including football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball and more.More >>

We are less than a month away till the Hawkeyes take to Kinnick Stadium to take on Illinois State. But today was media day and all of the Hawkeyes had a similar theme. What happened last year was last year and they are excited for this season."

The swarm is coming.

but this years Iowa Hawkeyes look much different gone are quarterback Jake Rudock, running back Mark Weisman and receiver Kevonte Martin Manley.

insert a running back by committee approach, on the outside seniors Tevaun Smith and Jacob Hillyer and the keys to the offense were given to a now short haired C.J. Beathard.

It's a lot easier to get in a rhythm of things when your not switching out reps all the time when you are the guy I'm getting all the one reps. I feel more of a leader now of this offense and of this team and that's a good approach."

C.J. has a good arm I mean he can do whatever he wants with that ball. I mean he can surprise you with some of the throws he makes."

Also gone are two offensive tackles gone to the NFL, one man trying to ease that transition is Cedar Falls own Ike Boettger.

"Ya know those two guys got drafted this year and they're gonna do great things in the NFL so just learning everything from them was very helpful."

On the defensive side they are also replacing two NFL quality tackles, having preseason all big ten selection and raw egg eating Drew Ott should help as should former four star recruit Jaleel Johnson.

Just doing the little things right, doing the fundamentals right. Once we get that we'll be fine"

The defensive secondary appears to be one of the strong points for the Hawkeyes this season returning 3 out of 4 starters.

Were a more cohesive unit back there we know our strengths and weakness and we know how to play with each other and being the last line of defensive that we are all coming back together and we could be a bright spot for this team."

One thing is for sure the Hawkeyes are reading to make a new name for themselves in 2015.

"We have not forgot how the last game ended.."

That's the great thing about sports you get a chance to get back up on your feet and do something about your last experience and things you weren't happy about."
