LINN COUNTY (KWWL) -

A Marion was injured after his motorcycle collided with a deer in Linn County Tuesday night.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office says 53-year-old Terence McCauley was headed west on Secrist Road at around 7:03 p.m., just east of Cory Road, when he collided with a deer that had run out of a ditch.

McCauley was laying unresponsive on the road when deputies arrived. He was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with what deputies call critical injuries.

Deputies say McCauley was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
