Update:

NASCAR IKAT Racing confirms that Joan Feller is dead after being involved in a crash at Hawkeye Downs.

Previous Story ----------------------------

The woman injured at Hawkeye Downs Racing and Expo Center on Friday night is not expected to recover, according to a GoFundMe page to raise money for her funeral and burial.

Joan Feller was racing on Friday night, and collided with another car that spun out of control.  Feller was unresponsive at the track, with no pulse, and had to be rushed to the hospital.

A GoFundMe page which started taking donations on Tuesday morning says, "Joan's injuries were critical, and the doctors have informed us that due to the severity of her spinal injury, Joan will not recover."

Money raised from online fundraising is also expected to help pay for her youngest child's first year of education at the University of Iowa, which will begin classes soon.

Feller was also a special ed teacher at Wilkins Elementary in the Linn-Mar School District.
