Iowa Irish Fest Continues Today

Posted: Updated:

It always begins with a parade, and bagpipes.

It may be a short parade down 4th street in downtown Waterloo, but it's one of the most enthusiastic parades you'll ever see.

And so officially begins the 9th annual Iowa Irish Fest.

"You don't have to be Irish to come down here, there's something for everyone whether you're 9 or 90," said organizer Chad Shipman.

Next comes the food, the music, and of course, the kilts.

If kilts aren't really your thing and you're craving good Irish food, there's many options to choose from.

6-year-old Michael Meyers (not the actor) says his favorite Irish food is Cheetos.

Whether you want to eat Cheetos or find your family origin on a giant map of Ireland, the fun doesn't stop.

Make sure you stick around for all the music, it comes straight from the mothership.

If you need an opinion on what band to see, Michael Meyers can offer his opinion.

"I like the music but it's kinda weird too," he said.
