Wrestling legend "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has died at the age of 61, multiple agencies have reported.

Piper died from cardiac arrest in his sleep at his home in Hollywood on Thursday night, and was found Friday, reports TMZ.

Piper was a 2008 inductee to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, and visited the Dan Gable Museum in Waterloo in June 2008 for the ceremony.

According to NWHOF.org, "Often entering the ring wearing a kilt, he was one of the most popular stars of the WWF television era.

Roddy wrestled over 7,000 matches and won nearly 40 titles. He has worked with the biggest names in the business, from Lou Thesz, to Hulk Hogan to Bret Hart. His talk show, Piper’s Pit, was hugely successful in the 1980s and he is regarded as one of the best interviews in wrestling history."
