3 injured in overnight shooting in Waterloo

UPDATE: Three people are recovering following a shooting overnight in Waterloo.

Police responded to the Hunnycomb Hideout on W. 5th Street just after midnight Thursday night. As officers responded, another call came out that someone was injured by gunfire on that street.

Officers found Keyon Garner and Fatimah Calhoun with gunshot wounds to the leg. They were both sent to Covenant Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers found 9mm shell casings in the 700 block of Allen Street and two vehicle damaged by gunfire down the block towards W 6th St.

A third gunshot victim, Robert Luckie, showed up at Allen Hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his left leg.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Waterloo Police are investigating a report of shots fired overnight.

Police focused their investigation at Honeycomb's Hideaway at Allen and Fifth Streets in Waterloo. A KWWL crew on scene noticed the bar and nearby businesses were closed; however, based on the hours posted, they should have been open.

Officers then moved down the street and searched yards along Allen.

KWWL has contacted Waterloo Police several times this morning, asking for more information. Police say more details will be released later this morning.
