WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Lost Island Water Park brings many people to Waterloo -- and on Thursday, that included Iowa's governor.

Gov. Terry Branstad wasn't there for water slides, but to recognize about a dozen Waterloo students involved in "Operation Exchange."

The program promotes cultural experiences among students from Waterloo and surrounding districts.

"If we all work together and work to understand each others differences -- whether it's ethnic or cultural, whatever -- but we are blessed to have a state that's becoming more and more diverse," said Governor Branstad.

Also in attendance at Lost Island were mayors of both Waterloo and Cedar Falls, as well as other community leaders.
