UPDATE: Fire damages Vinton business

VINTON (KWWL) -

The Vinton Fire Department says a fire at Kerry Ingredients caused more than $100,000 in damage to the business.

Fire Chief Gary McKenna says his department was called to the business at 105 North M Avenue at around 9 p.m. Wednesday night.

He says the center portion of the building was heavily damaged after fire started in a pipe that carries product from one portion of the building to another and then spread into the attic.

Fire crews from Garrison and Urbana were called in last night to assist. North Benton Ambulance Service was on standby to provide help to the firefighters.

McKenna says they were called back at around 8:30 a.m. today to extinguish some hot spots.

No injuries were reported.
