JOHNSTON (KWWL) -

More than 2,000 Iowa National guard soldiers are going through training at the U.S. Army’s Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, Louisiana.

According to the Iowa National Guard, the Joint Readiness Training Center is "one of three U.S. Army Combat Training Centers that conduct rigorous, realistic, and relevant multi-echelon, joint and combined arms training."

The Iowa soldiers are from the 2nd Brigade, 34th Infantry Division. The Iowa unit is one of only two National Guard units across the country to receive this training.

The soldiers will return home in August.
