Police warn of asphalt scam

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is warning of an asphalt scam that has been reported to them.

Deputies say a group of people will approach a homeowner saying they just finished a job in the area and have left over asphalt. They then ask the homeowner if they want the left over asphalt placed on their driveway. Once they finish laying the asphalt, they then charge the homeowner a very large fee.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office says the scam reportedly happened in the Riverside area on Tuesday. The people claimed to be Cross Roads Chip Seal.
