CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The City of Cedar Rapids is in the process of converting several one-way streets in the downtown area to two-way streets.

On Friday, 4th Ave. SE between 5th and 19th Streets will re-open as a two way street.

There will be new signs and street markings to help alert drivers to the changes.

According to the city, two-way streets are easier for visitors and mean more opportunities for bike lanes and pedestrian safety.

Other streets which will change this summer include sections of 2nd and 3rd Avenues and part of 8th Street.
