North Linn upsets Van Buren, advances to semis

DES MOINES (KWWL) -

North Linn held off a late rally to defeat second ranked Van Buren 6-3 to advance to the semifinals of the class 1A state baseball tournament.

Ryan Miller put the Lynx ahead in the 7th inning on an RBI base hit, but Van Buren countered in the bottom half of the inning, scoring the tying run on a Will Mertens' RBI double with 2 outs to send the game to extra innings.

North Linn exploded with 3 runs in the 8th inning to grab the victory and hand Van Buren their only loss of the season.
