Church members help clean up RAGBRAI mess

Posted: Updated:

RAGBRAI riders were off to Davenport Saturday morning for the final stretch of the ride.

Like many huge events, there's a lot of trash clean up.

This year, the Veritas Church in Iowa City helped clean up the mess in Coralville.

About 70 volunteers and church members spent about three hours near the Iowa River Landing.

"We put on gloves and we picked up every piece of trash that we could find, so everything from cigarette buds to you know empty beer bottles and everything in between," said Mark Arant, pastor of Veritas Church.

Arant told us that other people from the community also pitched in to help.

He said the cyclists did a good job of cleaning up after themselves, which it made the job a little easier.
