Iowa mothers call for renewed action on gun control

ANKENY, Iowa (AP) -- A group of Iowa mothers are calling for renewed action on gun control in the wake of a deadly movie theater shooting in Louisiana this week.

Des Moines television station KCCI reports that the group, named Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense In America, gathered outside an Ankeny movie theater complex Friday to call for action on gun control.

One member of the group, Amber Gustafson, says she "tired of people feeling like they need to arm themselves against their own friends and neighbors."

The shooting Thursday night in Lafayette, Louisiana left two women dead and nine other people hurt. Authorities say the shooter, 59-year-old John Russell Houser, shot and killed himself inside the theater shortly after the shooting.
