One killed in Hardin County semi crash

HARDIN COUNTY (KWWL) -

The Iowa State Patrol says a 54-year-old Ackley man has been killed in a head-on crash with a semitrailer just east of Iowa Falls.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports that the crash happened Friday afternoon, killing Heralcio Guerrero Duran.

Investigators say Duran was driving a car westbound on a county road and the semitrailer, driven by a 54-year-old Marshalltown man, was traveling eastbound when the collision happened. Officials are trying to determine what caused the crash.

Two passengers in Duran's car and the semi driver also were injured and taken to hospitals.

Duran was pronounced dead at the scene.

One person is dead and three others are hurt after a semi crash in Hardin County.

It happened around 1:15 p.m. on Friday afternoon in Ackley.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a car was going westbound on County Road D15 while a semi was going eastbound. The vehicles collided in the eastbound lane.

One person was killed. The victim's identity has not been released.

Three people, including the semi driver, were all taken to the hospital.

No word on their conditions at this time.

The accident is still under investigation.
