TORONTO (KWWL) -

Lisa Bluder and the U.S. Pan American Women’s Basketball Team are coming home with the silver medal after falling to Pan American Games host Canada in the gold medal game.

Team USA lost 81-73. It is Team USA's fifth silver medal in women's basketball in the Pan Am Games. It was Canada's first-ever gold medal.

The Bluder led team finished with a 4-1 record.

Bluder, the head coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes, won a gold medal in the 2001 World University Games as an assistant coach for Team USA.

Team USA led 23-13 after the first quarter, but the teams were tied 36-36 at the half. Canada then took an 11-point lead after three quarters, 62-51.

Team USA outscored Canada 22-19 in the fourth, but it wasn't enough.

Breanna Stewart of UConn led the U.S. with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Kentucky's Linnae Harper had 16 points.

The United States has won seven gold, five silver, and two bronze medals in women’s basketball since the games started in 1955.
