Cedar Rapids native Zach Johnson has won the 144th British Open.

Zach entered a three-person playoff with Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa and Marc Leishman of Australia. All were tied at 15-under after 72-holes.

Johnson and Oosthuizen were tied at one under after the first playoff hole. Leishman was two shots back after bogeying the hole.

Johnson then took a one-shot lead after the second playoff hole when he birdied the hole. Oosthuizen and Leishman both shot even par on the hole.

Johnson kept his one-shot lead through the third playoff hole when all three bogied the par-4.

After Leishman hit par on the final hole, Johnson was left with a 75-yard birdie attempt, while Oosthuizen had a 67-yard attempt. Johnson missed his birdie putt and had to settle for par. Oosthuizen also missed his birdie putt, given Johnson the win.

Johnson finished One-under for the playoff, Oosthuizen finished even and Leishman finished two-over.

This is Zach's first major win since he won the 2007 Master's. He has 10 other victories on the PGA Tour.
