SIOUX CITY (KWWL) -

Two RAGBRAI riders are taken to the hospital after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run.  Police say it happened at the intersection of N. Hamilton Blvd. and West 7th St. in Sioux City.

The driver, 36-year-old Charryse Chavez, has since been arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Driving Without Insurance, and Failure to Obey a Police Officer.

Police say Chavez failed to obey the officer directing traffic, and struck a tandem bike, injuring both people on it.  Bruce Blair suffered a serious leg injury, while Barbara Blair suffered minor injuries in the crash.  Both of their injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
