DAVENPORT (KWWL) -

A Cedar Rapids man was sentenced to almost three years in federal prison for possessing marijuana with the intent to deliver.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa says 34-year-old Charlie D. Pitchford was found with a .45 caliber pistol and 19, 1 gram packages of marijuana during a traffic stop in Coralville on March 10, 2012. They say the gun belonged to Pitchford and that he intended to distribute the marijuana.

Pitchford was sentenced to 33 months in prison and four years supervised release. He was also ordered to forfeit the firearm and ammunition he possessed and to pay $100 towards the Crime Victims Fund.

This case was investigated by the Coralville Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
