Civil Rights, Soul Music, and Black Identity lecture at AAMI

Take a step back in time to when funk and soul music converged with civil rights.

Scholar, educator, radio host, and author Dr. Frederick Vincent talk about popular African American artists in the 60's and 70's, who created the soundtrack to the Civil Rights movement.

The event, "Civil Rights, Soul Music, and Black Identity," is hosted by the African American Museum of Iowa on Friday July 17 at 6:30 pm.

The lecture, which is free, is part of the "Changing America: The Emancipation Proclamation, 1863 and the March on Washington, 1963" exhibit.
