Ben Carson making stop in Dubuque tomorrow

Posted: Updated:

2016 presidential hopeful Dr. Ben Carson will be making a stop in Dubuque Wednesday afternoon.

Americans for Peace, Prosperity and Security will be hosting a national security and foreign policy discussion at Noon in the Charles and Romona Myers Center at the University of Dubuque.

"APPS' forums continue to expand the dialogue around national security and foreign policy issues and provide a way for Iowans to directly interact with candidates looking to be the next commander-in-chief," Honorary Chairman Mike Rogers said in a written statement. "I would like to thank the University of Dubuque for its commitment to graciously host this important public policy dialogue for the citizens of Iowa."

"We live in a dangerous world," Dr. Carson said in a written statement. "To deny the unsettling facts supporting that premise undermines America’s security here at home, and our leadership position throughout the world, yet that is exactly the position America faces today.  ISIS wants to destroy us, and we ponder a suitable response. Iran wants a negotiated nuclear capability on a ‘trust us’ basis.  Our stalwart friends, from Israel to the Ukraine, are left wondering if we are trustworthy as allies when the chips are down.  We are at a crossroads internationally and we need to affirmatively choose leadership as our strategy and strength as our policy. The leadership demonstrated by APPS is exactly what we need to keep our citizens informed and vigilant, to restore America’s prominence on the world stage."
The Charles and Romona Myers Center is located at 445 North Algona Street in Dubuque. Doors for the event happen at 11:30 a.m.
