EVANSDALE (KWWL) -

The search continues for whomever abducted and murdered two Evansdale cousins three years ago Monday.

July 13th marks the day the suspect or suspects abducted Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins.

Their bikes and some personal items were found on the trail near Myers Lake in Evansdale. Nearly five months later, hunters found their bodies at Seven Bridges Park in Bremer County.

Evansdale Police Chief Jeff Jensen says his department gets about ten to twelve tips every week on average.  He says every time someone calls in they write down that tip and follow up.

It's a situation that weighs heavy on the minds of all the officers at the Evansdale Police Department. The girls' photos are hanging up for all the officers to see every day they walk into work.

Jensen says he believes this case is going to be solved, they just need that one key piece of information.

"This is never going to be a cold case in my eyes or anybody in this department's eyes. It's never going to be cold case. We desperately want to solve this. We need some answers. What worries us that there's somebody else, somebody out there that has done this horrible thing and they're still out there," said Jensen.

Law enforcement has said the suspect could be someone who lives in the Cedar Valley and knows the Seven Bridges Park area in Bremer County very well.

Substantial rewards are still being offered for information leading to an arrest of the person responsible for this crime.

Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers is offering a $20,500 reward.
