TRACKING STORMS: Hot and humid today, storms tonight

Posted: Updated:

Hot and humid conditions are expected today across eastern Iowa. Highs will be nearing 90 in many spots with dew points in the 70s. With the high humidity, it'll likely feel like 100 degrees across most of the area.

Remember to drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks if spending time outdoors. Don't forget your pets as well.

Storms are then expected to develop late this afternoon in Minnesota. These storms will track along a stationary front into eastern Iowa tonight.

The main threats with these storms will be winds over 70 mph, heavy rain and dangerous lightning. There is also an isolated tornado threat. The best chance of severe weather will be after 8 PM and into the overnight.

The storms will be moved out early Monday morning with another hot and humid day expected. Redeveloping storms will be possible Monday. The best chance will be along the Mississippi River.
