CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

University of Northern Iowa has added a new sculpture to its campus.

The university has commissioned a sculpture from artist Mike Baur.

It is displayed in the Bartlett Hall, as part of the renovation project.

The sculpture, "Redtail," is on display in the west interior courtyard.

The "Redtail" is 18 feet tall and is 24 feet long.

It is made up of concrete and steel that will need little maintenance over its expected life of more than a hundred years.

Baur said his goal in designing the project was to command attention in the space, but create small details that require a closer look.

Baur is a internationally-recognized sculpture artist from West Chicago. He has had works displayed in Spain and across the U.S.

The project is funded by the State of Iowa, Art in State Buildings Program.
