Burlington School District to use body cameras

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON (KWWL) -

An Iowa school district is one of the first in the nation to put body cameras on employees.

Starting this school year, Burlington will have more than a dozen cameras.

They'll be worn by Principals and Assistant Principals.

The cameras cost around $85.

The district is still working on a policy of how they'll be used.

"We want to make sure that we're treating people with dignity, honor and respect parents with dignity, honor and respect and this is a way to say, are we doing that and to kind of check ourselves," said Superintendent Patrick Coen.

Administrators say they got the idea from the Muscatine district.
