Study: Obese teens less likely to use contraception

A newly released study suggests that obese teenagers are less likely to use birth control methods compared to normal weight teenagers; however, that doesn't have an impact on their sexual behaviors.
The University of Michigan based their study on 900 women between 18 and 19 years old. Of those overweight teens who did use birth control, the obese participants were also less likely to use it on a consistent basis.
Researchers believe lower self-esteem may have something to do with overweight teens not asking their doctors about contraceptives.
