CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

A woman climbed into a tree, threatened to hurt herself and caused a 3 1/2-hour response from several agencies in Cedar Falls on Monday afternoon.

Black Hawk County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a woman threatening suicide at a residence in rural Cedar Falls on Monday, according to a press release from the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office.

Negotiators with the Black Hawk County Sheriff's office and a negotiator with the Iowa State Patrol talked with the woman for 3 1/2 hours before she surrendered, according to the report.

The woman was then taken to a local Waterloo hospital for a mental evaluation.

The sheriff's office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Cedar Falls Police, Sartori Paramedics and Janesville Police and Fire.

No criminal charges will be filed, according to the sheriff's office. The woman's name was also not released.

PREVIOUS STORY:

A woman who officials say was suicidal was the cause for commotion Monday afternoon in Cedar Falls.

The woman was "down and fine," according to Alex Murphy with Iowa DCI. He had no further details about the incident.

Murphy noted DCI's involvement was due to an agent in the area who happened to be nearby to help redirect traffic around the area.

Streets were no longer blocked off, and Waverly Road traffic was moving normally as of 4 p.m. Monday.
