2-year-old girl pulled from Mississippi has died

GRANT COUNTY, Wis. (KWWL) -

A 2-year-old girl from Waterloo, has died after being pulled from the Mississippi River Saturday on the back islands near the Wisconsin side, across from Waupeton, Iowa.

Brylea Morgan was transported by Sherill Ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. Then the child was later air-lifted to University of Iowa Hospitals. She died early this morning at University of Iowa Hospitals, according to the Grant County (Wis.) Sheriff's Department.

The child's family was on the island preparing for a group picture around 5:50 p.m., when the child and the mother went to the boat to get an item. When the mother of the child got out of the boat, she noticed her child was missing. Then moments later, the child was found under a boat in the water. 

The child was immediately pulled from the water and rescue efforts were started. She was wearing a life jacket prior to the incident but it was removed prior to the family group photo.

Authorities say this incident is still under investigation, but at this time no indication of any foul-play.
