IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Iowa's City's Annual Jazz Festival kicks off the first weekend and July.

The festival part of Iowa City's Summer of the Arts festival series, will bring its annual three-day sizzle to Downtown Iowa City next month, resulting in street closures, parking changes, and alterations to bus routes. The Jazz Fest kicks off Thursday, July 2 and wraps up Saturday, July 4 with the City's fireworks display.

Starting Wednesday, July 1 at 2 p.m., Clinton Street will be closed between Washington and Jefferson Streets, and Iowa Avenue will be closed between Dubuque and Clinton Streets. These streets will remain closed throughout the festival and will reopen around 2 a.m. on Sunday, July 5, after events have concluded.

Saturday, July 4, before the start of the fireworks, several streets near the Pentacrest will be closed in the vicinity of Hubbard Park, including Market Street (between Clinton and Madison Streets), Madison Street (between Market and Washington Streets), and Iowa Avenue (between Madison Street and Riverside Drive). On-street parking will also be restricted. These streets will be closed until the fireworks are over and the crowd has cleared the area.

For a full list of parking changes and bus routes, contact Shannon McMahon, City of Iowa City Communications Coordinator, at 319-356-5058 or shannon-mcmahon@iowa-city.org. To view the schedule of Iowa Jazz Festival and other Summer of the Arts activities, visit www.summerofthearts.org
