About half of Americans have postponed a major life decision for financial reasons, according to a new survey.

The survey, conducted for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, found that many are worried that they lack sufficient savings, or are worried about the economy.

Of the one-thousand-ten adults, age 18 and older surveyed, the percentage of people delaying decisions like home ownership or marriage because of money had risen to 51 percent.

A similar survey conducted in 2007 found only 31 percent delaying decisions.
