LINN COUNTY (KWWL) -

There will be no birds in the Linn County Fair bird contest this year.

The birds will not be allowed because of growing concern of the avian flu.

It's not just the Linn County Fair. Poultry contest have been canceled across the state of Iowa.

The contest will go on in a unique way this year -- contestants will submit pictures of their birds.

Aside from the traditional pictures that show off a bird's beak and tail, among other things, the judges will be looking at silly photo submissions as well.

There will be a category for ugliest bird, best "selfie" with a bird, and even best-dressed bird.

Games will also be included like the rubber chicken toss and a crowing contest.

The poultry competition begins Saturday at 1 p.m.
