IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Volunteers can help plant Iowa's first edible forest this Thursday.

Hundreds of herbs will be planted on a public area on 1/3 of an acre.

The Wetherby Edible Forest is expected to be enjoyed for years to come.

The Forest will give the community a free source of healthy food.

It is located at 2400 Taylor Drive in Iowa City.

On Thursday, there will be pizza available for the volunteers from 6-8 p.m.

This event will be hosted by Iowa City Parks and Recreation as well as Backyard Abundance.
