MAYNARD (KWWL) - Two homeowners became trapped after powerful storms took their home partly off of its foundation Monday morning.

Ursula Cole, 78, was taken to Mercy Hospital Oelwein, according to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.

Her husband, Robert Cole, 78, was not injured.

Robert Cole's brothers Rick and Jerry Cole told KWWL's Lauren Moss that Ursula Cole sustained two broken hips and was transferred to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Jerry Cole also told KWWL that she was unconscious when rescuers found her, and that, due to the storms hindering air travel, Ursula was taken there by ambulance.

According to the sheriff's office, they received a call at around 8:47 a.m. Monday about a two-story house at 10846 80th Street in Maynard being blown partly off of its foundation and two occupants being trapped inside.

When deputies arrived, they saw the house had sustained severe damage and the Coles were trapped inside.

Rescuers got both residents out from an open area in the northwest corner of the house, according to the sheriff's office.

Fayette County Emergency Management, Iowa DNR and the Red Cross also assisted.
