Ponchos popular at Gentlemen of the Road

WAVERLY (KWWL) -

Dark skies and colorful ponchos fill the festival grounds at the Gentlemen of the Road stopover.

Some choose to make a little music while they wait for storms to pass, because it's the "universal language," according to banjo-playing festival-goer Tom Allen.

Allen has been camping on the festival grounds since Thursday.

He says the weather has been giving him and his friends a little trouble.

"There was pea-sized hail, it really rock and rolled, but we weathered it out, people were tough and they were beautiful," said Allen.

Allen and the other campers had to wait in the Wartburg Wellness Center until the hail stopped.

"I've got my poncho, I'll be here rain or shine," he said.

KWWL spotted a festival-goer in a full blown suit.

"I camped in this suit, slept in it, all day, all night," said Jesse Robertson.

He says the fancy threads are worth it though, to see his favorite band.

"Mumford and Sons are a European band, I can't believe they'd come here. I'm so excited for this,"" said Robertson.
