President's trade agenda gets some new life

Posted: Updated:
The House of Representatives passed the TPA bill, giving President Obama's trade agenda some new life.

However, its future in the Senate is far from certain.

If passed by both chambers, it would give the president fast-track authority to negotiate a massive, yet controversial, trade agreement.

28 Democrats joined Republicans in sending the bill onto the Senate, passing by a 10-vote margin.

The overall trade agreement would involve a dozen countries on the Pacific Rim.
