JOHNSON COUNTY (KWWL) -

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office says the man found dead in the Iowa River last week is a homeless man from Iowa City.

Sheriff Lonny Pulkrabek says a Johnson County Conservation Ranger called deputies at around 7:52 p.m. last Wednesday after two campers at Hills Access found a pair of pants and boots sticking out from a brush pile in the Iowa River, just north of Hills Access.

Pulkrabek says Dennis Firchau, MD, the Johnson County Deputy Medical Examiner, has identified the man as 41-year-old Shawn L. Warrington. Pulkrabek says Warrington was most recently from Iowa City, but also lived in Davenport and Galesburg, Illinois.

The manner of death has not been determined, but Pulkrabek says foul play is not suspected.
