FCC plans to fine AT&T for misleading customers

Posted: Updated:
The Federal Communications Commission believes AT&T misled consumers about unlimited data plans, and now the carrier could face a $100 million fine.

The FCC says the nation's second-largest wireless carrier slowed down data speeds for customers with unlimited plans. AT&T is also accused of not notifying its customers of the slower speeds.

The practice is known as "throttling," and the FCC calls it a deceptive practice.
