DES MOINES (AP) -  A man accused of leading police on a high-speed car chase in Des Moines has been arrested.

The Des Moines Register reports 27-year-old Daniel Phillip Garretto was charged Wednesday with eluding, domestic abuse assault, obstruction of emergency communications and violation of probation.

A police pursuit report says a woman reported early Tuesday that Garretto was wanted for domestic assault and was stealing her friend's car. Des Moines police and sheriff's deputies followed Garretto, who drove at speeds up to 95 mph.

Authorities said Garretto lost control of the car, struck another vehicle, and spun before sliding into an embankment. The report says Garretto ran from the car and was eventually apprehended.

Garretto is being held without bond at the Polk County Jail. It is not clear if he has an attorney.
