CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Cedar Falls Police have made an arrest in a March assault that resulted in a man losing an eye.

Brady Lee Morgan, 21, was arrested today by officers acting on a tip from Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers.

Morgan is accused of beating a man in the 500 block of Main Street in Cedar Falls on March 1.

Cedar Falls police and Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers asked for help in identifying the suspect from a surveillance photo on April 7.

Morgan is charged with willful injury.

Cedar Falls Police are asking for the public's help in tracking down someone who may have information about the brutal beating of a Cedar Falls man.

Brett Weichers, 47, was found with severe injuries in the 500 block of Main St. on March 1. As an officer rounded the corner in his squad car, he saw the apparent attackers running from the scene.

Instead of chasing them, the officer tended to Weichers, who was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. There, doctors were forced to remove one of his eyes.

Weichers called his mother from the hospital.

"I could tell by his voice something was wrong," said Trudy Weichers.

"I'm angry that they could hurt somebody like that, and it scares me that they could hurt someone else," she continued.

Weichers said he had been out drinking that night, and had nearly broke up a fight at Tony's Pizzeria earlier. However, he said he ended up not getting involved.

He said he believes it was those people that came after him around 2:30 a.m. Police cannot verify that the incidents are connected.

Weichers said it was at least two male attackers.

"They yelled something, and then I turned towards them and they were running at me full speed," he said. "They just knocked me down and I guess kicked me. I don't remember much after than, but them kicking me in the head and ribs."

Police are circulating a surveillance photo of someone they call a person of interest. They do not identify him as a suspect.

Authorities, just like family, ask that if anyone recognizes him, report it to police or Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers.

"Somebody has to know who they are," Mrs. Weichers said. "There's no doubt in my mind."

Brett said he's thankful the police came along, and that he survived.

"Before I got brain injuries or something," he said.
