CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A Marion man is heading to federal prison for 40 years, the legal maximum for his crime, after being convicted of making child porn while being a registered sex offender.

The United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Iowa says 40-year-old Kevin Andrew Jauron was sentenced today. He pleaded guilty on January 8 to one count of committing an offense involving a minor while being required to register as a sex offender.

Court documents show Jauron admitted between 2013 and May 10, 2014 he talked a minor into engaging in  sexual conduct in order to make pictures or video. The records also show that Jauron posed as a child to make contact with victims using a cell phone and the internet. Court officials say Jauron sexually exploited five of the minor girls, produced images of four of them and had sex with three of them. They say he also produced at least one video.

Jauron admitted he was required to register as a sex offender because of a 2008 conviction in Linn County for sexual conduct with a 15-year-old girl.

After his 40 years in prison, Jauron will be on supervised release for 15 years.
