AMES (KWWL) -

A bald eagle has been released back into the wild after being hit by a car.

The male eagle suffered a broken wing when it was hit by a car in Marshall County.

A surgeon at the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine performed an operation on the eagle in March.

The bird then spent twelve weeks at Saving Our Avian Resources for rehab, before it was finally released back into the wild at McFarland Park in Ames on Monday.
