WEST UNION (KWWL) -

A West Union man was arrested after being accused of trying to meet a 15-year-old at a park for sex after meeting her on Facebook.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a report on Sunday that a man was trying to get young girls on Facebook to meet him in or around the West Union area.

They say 25-year-old Robert Franklin Lippstock, of West Union and formerly from Dubuque, knew the girl he met on Facebook was 15-years-old, but still arranged to meet her in a West Union park for sex.

Investigators arranged the meeting for Tuesday and met Lippstock at the pre-arranged location. They say he tried to run when he was approached by investigators, but was arrested.

Investigators executed a search warrant at his home today and seized computers and cell phones.

Lippstock is charged with enticing a minor with the intent of an illegal sex act, interference with official acts and two counts of assault of a peace officer not causing serious injury.

Lippstock was booked into the Fayette County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

If convicted, Lippstock faces up to 8 years in prison and would be required to register as a sex offender.

The West Union Police Department assisted in the investigation.
