CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A convicted felon and meth user is sentenced to eight years in federal prison for possession of a firearm and ammunition.  36-year-old Ricky Vaughn, of Cedar Rapids, pleaded guilty to one felony count of possessing a firearm and ammunition on March 4.

He admitted to possessing a Ruger SR1911 Commander .45 caliber pistol and Winchester .45 ammunition on October 6, 2014 in Cedar Rapids.  He also admitted to past felony convictions for theft and manufacturing meth.

Vaughn must also serve three years of supervised release after his prison term.  He is currently being held in the United States's Marshal's custody until he can be sent to federal prison.
