CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -  A new, large sculpture will be featured in downtown Cedar Rapids.

The 20 feet high, 40 feet long, stainless steel sculpture was chosen for Greene Square, up against 200 other nationwide entries.

The sculpture, designed by Oakland, California artist Bruce Beasley, is designed as a symbolic bridge between the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art and the Cedar Rapids Public Library.

It will be installed in October.

Bruce Beasley's sculptures are also exhibited in other cities including San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and St. Louis among others.

The total cost of the sculpture including installation will be $225,000.

Linn County will fund the sculpture through the sale of the Mott Building.
