Three trains derailed in Iowa in less than 24 hours.

On Monday night, a Union Pacific train derailed in Sioux City.

Then, on Tuesday, around 1 am, a train derailed in both Mason City and Waterloo.

Neighbors who live by the derailment site in Waterloo on Conger Street said the derailment sounded like a bomb went off.

One woman said it was so loud, she thought someone was breaking into her house.

No word on what the Canadian National train was carrying or what caused it to derail, but thankfully nobody was hurt.

Just 80 miles north a Union Pacific train derailed in Mason City.

The cause of that derailment and what the cars were carrying is still a mystery.

And in the west part of the state, another Union Pacific derailment.

Officials say workers were moving rail cars around the rail yard when something caused two cars to tip.

One car was carrying soybean meal, the other was empty.

KWWL reached out to Canadian National to inquire about the derailment in our viewing area -- what caused it and what the train was carrying, but have received no response.
